Black vote, heraschel walker? i m not sure about that because i think that herschel walker brought another level of baggage with him as well. i think on some level, herschel walker did some things that actually turned the black community off of him. i certainly think he may have been able to get one or two more points, and a week ago he referred to himself as he said that he was called a coon, and they are the smartest animal out there. that s a very racist, derogatory term that has been hurled at black people in the south that we don t take lightly of. people were upset and embarrassed and had strong opinions of not wanting herschel walker to represent georgia or represent our community. i think he had other elements that worked against him, and also said that racism wasn t that bad. he minimized, right, the impacts of racracism, and i think all oo those things played into why black voters voted against him. i have not heard that coon ....
Upset and they were petrified that here it is this candidate they plucked out of texas, republicans thought so little of black voters they thought they could pluck a candidate, who was a football player, that in some way they could prop him up and black voters were going to fall from that. the other thing he was so disconnected. a few days ago at a rally referred to himself and talked about how he was called a coon and a coon was the smartest animal. that is a racist term that has been used in the south to black people. if you go back to the 60s, dr. king oftentimes that racists who were in position would call him dr. martin luther coon, i mean king. here s a man so disrespectful that the plight of black people he would refer to himself as a racist derogatory term and ....
The 60s. some may recall that dr. king, it was intentional races were calling him dr. martin luther coon, that it has been a derogatory term used against african americans. at his rally said that being called a coon, not only did that not bother him, but he was a country boy and it was the smartest animal. so for him to actually attach himself to a term that s been so negative, that s created a bad taste in the mouth of many voters, but particularly african american voters. the fact he doesn t live in georgia, donald trump picked him up out of texas, brought him here and by his own account, he s been living in texas, not in georgia and is not a resident of georgia. all those things come to play when we ve talked to voters today. i didn t even know he brought up that word. thanks for joining us. appreciate your time. ....
