The seeds were sown when there was still snow on the ground, and now those plants are ready to go home with gardeners.
The Bay Port High School chapter of the National FFA Organization will open its greenhouse to the public on Wednesday for its annual spring plant sale. Gardeners will find more than 200 varieties of annuals, both flowers and vegetables.
The sale is first come, first served, so gardeners with a specific tomato on their planting list, be it  Amish Paste, Golden Jubilee or Beefmaster, should plan accordingly. The greenhouse near the rear of the Suamico school will be open from 2:40 to 6 p.m. weekdays until plants are sold out. That s usually by Memorial Day weekend, said Whitney Barnes, Bay Port agriculture instructor and FFA adviser, but sooner for the hanging baskets. ....
