Melissa colorado joins us live from oakland with more on what the district superintendent is saying about the start of the new school year. Melissa, parents cant be happy with this. Reporter you know, the superintendent called it unprecedented and weird. She used that term to describe the first day of school or the first day of zoom here at ousd. Right in front of the Oakland Tech High School which is obviously closed. But earlier today we saw a line of students and parents coming here to receive textbooks as well as chromebooks. Now, we got some new attendance numbers. The district says attendance numbers are still coming in but so far more than 21,000 students showed up or, i should say, logged on to their first day of school.
