LAS CRUCES – During Monday night s school board meeting, Cobre Consolidated School District decided to enter all grade levels – pre-K through 12th – into a hybrid learning model on March 8.
CCSD s School Improvement Coordinator Joyce Barela said that the fire marshal will be walking through all the school buildings to ensure that the district is prepared for reentry. Barela said the walk-throughs are scheduled for the first week of March. We don t want to push it too soon, Barela said about implementing hybrid schooling. We wanted to give time for this walkthrough to happen.
This decision comes after Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announcement from Jan. 26 that districts will be permitted to return to in-person hybrid learning Feb. 8, regardless of the number and rate of COVID-19 cases in each county.
