LETTERS: The 16th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention was organized on Jan 9 on a virtual platform, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The theme of the 2021 PBD was Contributing to Aatmanirbhar Bharat .
The PBD Convention is the flagship event of the Government of India and provides an important platform to engage and connect with the vibrant overseas Indian diaspora and celebrate their achievements and contributions.
The Indian Diaspora across the world including from Malaysia enthusiastically participated in the celebration. In view of the ongoing pandemic, the event was virtually attended by select representatives of the Indian diaspora in Malaysia in compliance with the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) and prevailing SOP in Malaysia. ....

New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 16th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention today with President of Suriname as the chief guest.
The event will be held in a virtual format with the theme Contributing to Atmanirbhar Bharat .
Ahead of the inauguration, the PM on Friday said that event will be a great opportunity to interact with the Indian diaspora.
At 10:30 am tomorrow, 9th January will address the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention. This is a great opportunity to interact with our vibrant diaspora, he tweeted. ....
