Five named on Leeds City Square shortlist
The RIBA has named the five teams shortlisted to transform Leeds City Square into a major new public space reflecting the settlement s ‘cultural richness’ and ‘climate change ambitions’
The finalists are AECOM with Edinburgh’s Graeme Massie Architects; Atkins; Gillespies; Camden-based MICA; and re-form landscape architecture of Leeds. The five shortlisted teams will now each receive a £6,000 honorarium to participate in the second round and develop a design concept for the area.

The 0.3ha public space is next to Leeds Station and Channel 4’s new headquarters but is hemmed in by several lanes of busy traffic. It was originally laid out in the late 19th century and was last modernised in the early 2000s. It features several statues and a large paved area. ....
