Playing field. what do you make of the fact that races are tightening in your direction in say a washington and california, and tightening in the democrat s direction in pennsylvania and wisconsin. any trends you are reading out of this? well, i think it s only to be expected that the races would tighten and people would come home closer to the election. but i think it s really very interesting the president is spending his time in deep blue states on the west coast and trying to shore up harry reid in nevada. my take is if the polls are at a dead heat of the enthusiasm gap operating in our favor, more of the independents and republicans turning out to vote for our candidates, and i am feeling good about it. i want to play a clip from last night in delaware. some argue it s in the playing field and some argue it s not. ....

i do because of the scott brown phenomenon, where people changed their mind about washington and we are seeing diseffected democrats, and a lot of the folks were independents, and they are not connected with either party and if they are voting for the republican, that s a good thing. i want to talk about the outside groups. do you make decisions on where to put money based on where you are seeing other republican groups. do you say, well, we can move money somewhere else? well, we re not coordinating. we cannot legally coordinate, as you know you can see publicly where they are spending money? we look at daily tracking polls. i get them on my blackberry every morning, and see if the ads are for or against the candidates. we see a huge amount of money ....
