After several years of discussing and debating what to do about a sagging borough building roof, Saxton Borough Council announced this week that two bids to replace the roof have been received.
Council President Lester Meck told members that two separate contractors came to the borough and inspected the body of the roof, which covers the borough office and space once occupied by the Broad Top Senior Citizens Center that eventually moved out of the building. Meck did not wish to publicly disclose the name of the bidders or the bid amounts due to a possible misunderstanding on the part of one of the bidders as to the scope of the entire project. ....
