The outer bands of Hurricane Milton are already hitting parts of the state. It is forecast to make landfall some time tonight between 10 00 p. M. Eastern and 2 00 a. M. And is expected to double in size before making landfall. This is the scene right now in ft. Myers, florida, being battered by high winds and rain. The top concern for officials at this moment is making sure that residents get to safety. The window for evacuating is now rapidly closing. Even as the storm is already complicating those efforts. Heartbreaking for anyone still trapped inside. This stunning new hopeful. A young boy being rescued from the rubble. There are fears, understandable fears, more people could be trapped. Right now more than 80 Emergency Teams are working to find survivors if they can. This is what the 12story Ocean Front Condo Building looked like before this mornings collapse. No word how many could be trapped and what caused the collapse. Here is what the mayor said a short time ago. They were doing roof work on the building at the time. Certainly that doesnt seem like it would be the issue that would have caused it. Some of the residents at the Community Center have complained to me the new building that went up to the south used to shake the building when they were putting the pilings in. We need to look hard at what happened there and find out because buildings just dont fall down like this. We had the dogs out there probably a few hours ago over the collapsed area and were just not getting any hits which is really heartbreaking.
