Good Afternoon, my name is Julian Willock, the Speaker of the House of Assembly.
I thank the Cabinet Secretary for establishing protocol, Honourable Members, Ladies and Gentleman.
However, I must acknowledge the Premier Honourable Andrew A. Fahie and our First Lady Mrs. Sheila Forbes-Fahie.
Leader of the Opposition Honourable Marlon A. Penn and your wife Mrs. Joy Penn along with all other spouses here, All Members of the fourth House of Assembly, former legislators and, All those who were kind enough, to accept our invitation to this event including Members of the Virgin Islands Youth Parliament.
Mr. John Rankin, CMG To Be Sworn In As Governor On January 29
Governor Designate Mr. John James Rankin, CMG will be sworn in as Governor of the British Virgin Islands on Friday, January 29, 2021 at the Save the Seed Centre, Duff’s Bottom, Tortola.
Mr. Rankin will be the Territory’s 14
th Governor, a position that is vital to the partnership between the Virgin Islands and the Government of the United Kingdom, said Acting Governor Mr. David D. Archer, Jr.
“The ties that we as a Territory share with the United Kingdom are complex, and we value having someone as experienced and dedicated as Mr. Rankin with us to fulfil the role of intermediary,” Mr. Archer said.
