The decision to stay the course was first announced by Mayor Mike Nelson in a Monday letter to the Edmonds Downtown Alliance (Ed!), in which he cited what he described as a “huge amount of…input from the public, dozens of business owners as a result of our surveys, the business roundtable, councilmember input, emails, calls and Facebook comments,” that supported the two-day street closure as the clear “front runner in public opinion among the various options.” ....
Latest Walkable Edmonds survey asks about Sunday-only option; response deadline April 26 Posted: April 23, 2021 Photo courtesy Edmonds Downtown Alliance The City of Edmonds has launched a new survey asking residents and business owners for their opinion on various options for holding a second year of Walkable Main Street, which involves closing a portion of Main Street in downtown Edmonds to allow for outdoor dining and shopping. The deadline to respond is April 26. The latest survey asks respondents whether they would prefer the event be held all day Saturday and Sunday as it was last year, limiting it to either all day Saturday or all day Sunday, or not holding it at all. ....

After weeks of discussion, the Edmonds City Council Tuesday night unanimously approved an amended version of tree regulations approved in early March although there is still some wordsmithing to do. The 7-0 vote came after the council led by Senior Planner Kernan Lien laboriously worked through amendments to the regulations it approved March 2, which were aimed at retaining existing trees during development on private property. ....
