About 200 people attended a candlelight vigil at Krannert Park on Indianapolis’ westside Saturday evening. Eight candles were lit to represent each person killed late Thursday night when a former employee arrived at a FedEx facility and opened fire with two assault rifles. Ryenne Beaty is a childhood friend of 19-year-old Samaria Blackwell, who was among those who died. She said she did not believe the news at first. ....

About 50 people mourners attended the vigil at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church, according to The Indianapolis Star. Savana DeLao and Michelle Parks would have been working at the facility Thursday night under normal circumstances, but DeLao left work early, and Parks didn’t work her usual shift, claiming something didn’t feel right, according to the report. But for DeAndra Dycus, Pamela Wooden, Brenda Hutson and other members of Purpose 4 My Pain, the turmoil is more personal. They’ve all lost children to gun violence. It’s a club whose membership they wouldn’t wish on anyone, so when they heard the news that eight more families were now experiencing the same pain, Dycus said they knew they needed to act. “I wanted to show solidarity in our community, because we’re tired,” Dycus said. “Enough is enough.
