Cops to step up traffic exercises Thursday 17 December 2020 DRIVERS are being warned to obey the law and take all precautions necessary to ensure their safety and the safety of their passengers, as the police intend to increase traffic exercises to prevent road fatalities. A police media release on Tuesday reported the decision to increase road policing activities came after three fatal accidents were recorded within a six-hour period on Monday. In the first incident, at around 2 pm, Ravesh Jhinkoo, 33, lost control of his SUV on the Toco Main Road and crashed into a concrete drain and embankment. Less than two hours later, at around 3.30 pm, fireman Satesh Ramkissoon, 37, died after being knocked down by a truck while standing along the Naparima Mayaro Road, Bristol Village. ....

But Satesh Ramkissoon, 32, never made it that far. The fireman was crushed by a dump truck on Tuesday after it veered off the road. Another vehicle was also involved in this sad sequence of events. “Both drivers are blaming each other, but they both were speeding,” an eyewitness said. Ramkissoon, 32, was crushed by the truck, and died in hospital while undergoing emergency surgery. A police report said at about 4 pm, a Mitsubishi dump truck was heading south along the Naparima Mayaro Road near Bristol Village when a car tried to overtake it. ....
