SASKATOON The city will be taking a closer look at signage rules for pot shops. The move comes after a business looking to open a cannabis retail location in Saskatoon realized its sign violated a city bylaw related to signs at pot stores. Greenery Cannabis Boutique has a marijuana leaf symbol on its sign but the city bylaw says only alpha-numeric characters can be used. On Monday, the company brought its concerns over the issue to the planning, development and community services committee at city hall. During the meeting, the city s licensing and permitting manager Mark Wilson said the signs of two other cannabis retailers operating in the city also violate the rules. ....

SASKATOON Giving the novel coronavirus enough oxygen will allow it to rise in the population again, an expert says. “Yes, we’ve got vaccines that are coming down the road but that doesn’t necessarily help us here and now,” said Jason Kindrachuk, a virologist at the University of Manitoba. He made the remarks after Saskatchewan eased gathering restrictions on Tuesday, allowing for a private gathering bubble of up to 10 people inside a household. The province also reported the first COVID-19 death of a person under 20. The week of Feb. 8-14 had 282 COVID-19 cases and the week of Feb. 22-28, there were 434 cases. ....
SASKATOON The Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority (SREDA) says Saskatoon recently reached 58.5 per cent recovery when compared to 2019. “In terms of that economic recovery over the past 12 months we are just over half way towards a full economy, but obviously there is still a long way to go,” CEO Alex Fallon said. The findings came from 10 different sectors of Saskatoon’s economy such as GDP, retail sales, and employment. It’s called the Saskatoon Economic Recovery Tracker. The individual economic recovery from each sector gets comprised into the overall number of 58.5 per cent, which is up from 48.2 per cent in December of 2020. ....
