NEW DELHI: The Justice B S Chauhan inquiry commission has found no evidence of wrongdoing by Uttar Pradesh police in the encounter killings of gangster Vikas Dubey and his five associates, which were allegedly staged to exact revenge for the murder of eight policemen by the outlaw and his men at Bikru village on July 3 last year.
Within a week of the policemen, including a DSP, being killed by the gangster and his men using sophisticated firearms, there was a spate of encounters in which Dubey and his five associates were killed by UP police teams. As many as six PILs were filed in the SC, which on July 22 last year had approved the UP government’s decision to institute an inquiry commission headed by former SC judge Chauhan and comprising former Allahabad HC judge Sashi Kant Agrawal and former DGP K L Gupta. ....

LUCKNOW: The three-member inquiry commission probing the encounter killings of gangster Vikas Dubey and five of his alleged associates has given a clean chit to Uttar Pradesh Police because of lack of evidence, sources said on Wednesday.
The commission is headed by former Supreme Court judge B S Chauhan.
The other two members are former Allahabad High Court judge Sashi Kant Agrawal and former UP Director General of Police K L Gupta.
The panel submitted its reported to the state government on Monday, eight months after it was set up. ....
