A strong earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale hit the border area between Iraq and Iran and was felt in the capital Baghdad and many Iraqi provinces, a seismic monitor has said.

Just 11 minutes ago, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Mandalī, Qada Balad Ruz, Diyāla, Iraq. The tremor was recorded early afternoon on Monday 26 April 2021 at 2:09 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.6 as well.
