€132,385 has been allocated to support Longford groups to re-open their facilities post Covid-19.
Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, and Minister of State with responsibility for Community Development and Charities, Joe O’Brien TD, have today announced €4.5 million to support community groups impacted by Covid-19.
The 2021 Community Enhancement Programme (CEP) will provide small grants designed to assist in the re-opening of facilities such as community centres, men’s and women’s sheds, parish halls and youth centres. ....

As capacity on public transport increases to 50% from tomorrow as part of the phased reopening of the country, Bus Éireann is advising its Longford customers to travel outside of peak times, to book a guaranteed seat for inter-regional Expressway travel and to be prepared for greater demand on some services, especially during periods of fine weather, at weekends and morning/evening commute times.
“It is very welcome that public transport will now be operating at a capacity of 50% and we look forward to playing our part in the safe reopening of society. ....

AIDS first came to the world s attention with a June 5, 1981, report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about five cases of Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) among young gay men in Los Angeles. A second report on cases of PCP and Kaposi sarcoma in New York City and California followed a month later.
The disease that would come to be known as AIDS was first mentioned in the Bay Area Reporter in a July 2 Health Shorts column about Gay Men s Pneumonia potentially linked to poppers buried on page 34.
Dr. Robert Boland s gay health column in the August 13 issue was headlined New Bugs . No Alarm. Boland suggested Kaposi sarcoma (KS) and PCP might be linked to cytomegalovirus, a virus in the herpes family. No one knows what these new bugs have to do with gay life, he wrote.
