April is National Poetry Month, and there are so many ways to celebrate – the most obvious of which is to check out a book of poetry. National Poetry Month was started in April 1996 by the Academy of American Poets to remind the public that poetry matters and the role that it plays in our culture. Poetry is designed to open the door to real life and to emotions, whether those emotions are love, sadness, fear or humor. I, for one, am not a poet.
