Vanderburgh County s Burdette Park Aquatic Center to reopen for 2021
EVANSVILLE, Ind. Burdette Park Aquatic Center will reopen for spring 2021, following all state and local coronavirus safety rules for similar facilities, Director Jerry Grannan told the Vanderburgh County Board of Commissioners Tuesday.
The pool, which was closed last year due to the pandemic, will open May 29. It will close for the season Aug. 8. I think our community needs it, and I think everybody needs something to do, Grannan said. It s been a year, and we re going to do it safely.
Grannan said the pool will operate at 75% capacity (about 1,800 people), and social distancing will be enforced at admission counters, water slides and concession lines. Concession booths will only sell pre-packaged items, and lounging areas will be distanced.
HENDERSON, Ky. Two COVID-related deaths were reported Monday in Henderson County and five new confirmed COVID-19 cases were recorded in the county.
Overall, the Green River District Health Department reported only eight new cases in its seven-county district on Monday. In addition to Henderson County s five cases, McLean County, Ohio County and Webster County had one new case apiece.
The Henderson County deaths were previously unreported COVID-19 deaths that were found through a state-wide review of death certificates.The two deaths bring Henderson County s total to 62 since the pandemic began.
The incidence rate, which measures the average daily cases per 100k population over the past seven days, rose to 8.2 as of Thursday afternoon in Henderson County, which held the county in the yellow or community spread level. The incidence rates in Webster County and Union County also remained in the community spread level at 5.5 and 3.0, respectively.
ICE is the investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security. Shawn Neudauer, the Homeland Security Investigations spokesman for Indiana, told the Courier & Press the day after the raid that it was related to a criminal investigation, not an immigration case.
He gave the following statement at the time: Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and IRS special agents, with the assistance of the Indiana State Police, conducted federal search warrants in the Evansville, Indiana, area (Feb. 24) as part of an ongoing criminal investigation. There is no threat to the public. As the matter remains an ongoing investigation no further information is currently available.”Phone calls to the restaurant were unanswered and an email to the address listed on the restaurant website was returned as undelivered.
