May 3, 2021 UP: To Parkersburg South High School math teacher Sara Klesel, who was named Wood County Schools Teacher of the Year at last week’s board of education meeting. “This is quite an honor, especially in a year when every teacher has truly gone above and beyond. I couldn’t do it without my family, who’s been super supportive this past year,” Klesel said. “Helping out when I’ve been losing my mind. The administration has been truly supportive and even National Board Certified teachers who I’ve met throughout this year (have) been a lifeline.” She is right. To stand out when so many teachers are going the extra mile is quite an accomplishment. Congratulations. ....

PARKERSBURG The Wood County Board of Education announced the district’s 2022 Teacher of the Year, recognized new and renewed National Board Certified teachers and received an update on the Wood County Technical Center’s cosmetology program during a board meeting on Tuesday night. Parkersburg South High School’s Sara Klesel was named the 2022 Teacher of the Year. Klesel has been a mathematics teacher at South for the past 10 years, with 15 years of teaching experience in total. ....
[email protected] PARKERSBURG A math teacher at Parkersburg South High School has been selected as a Mountaineer Mathematics Master Teachers Noyce Fellow as part of a $3 million grant to West Virginia University from the National Science Foundation’s Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program. Sara Klesel is one of 19 Noyce Fellows – dubbed M3T – in the first group participating in the project, representing 17 counties across West Virginia. The program is supported by additional grants from the West Virginia Department of Education. “It’s an honor to be part of the M3T project. I am excited about the work we are doing, and hope it impacts student learning and teacher leadership in mathematics across the state,” Klesel said. ....
