PESHAWAR: The Senate of the University of Peshawar has approved a Rs4204 million budget for the university. A press release said the Senate meeting was chaired by Chief Minister’s Special Assistant for Higher Education Kamran Bangash at the Governor’s House. UoP Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Idrees, Registrar Saifullah Khan, Treasurer Ayesha Salman, Justice (r) Syed Afsar Shah, secretary higher education, additional secretary finance, MPA Pir Fida, Dr Aziz, Dr Rasool Khan, Rashid Ali Jan and Dr Sar Buland. On the occasion, Dr Idrees informed the participants about the university’s financial position and budget. 37 Taliban Killed in Ongoing Operations in Kandahar: MoD At least 37 Taliban were killed and 28 more were wounded in Afghan forces operations supported by air support in Arghandab and Zherai districts in Kandahar province on Sunday, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement on Monday. The forces have seized 90 motorbikes during the operation and also destroyed “a large amount of weapons” belonged to the Taliban and also cleared “Tabeen” village in Arghandab, the ministry said. The Taliban has not commented on the operation. On Sunday, local officials in Kandahar said that the Arghandab has been retaken from the Taliban following an operation by security forces. ....
