3 local LeT terrorists killed in Kokernag encounter: Police | India News

SRINAGAR: Three local Lashker-e-Taiba terrorists were killed at Vailoo village in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district during an encounter on Tuesday, police said.
Police acting on specific input about presence of three terrorists in a residential house at village Sheikhpora, Kokernag, launched a joint cordon and search operation along with Army’s 19RR and CRPF.
“During the search operation, as the presence of (militants) got ascertained, they were given an opportunity to surrender. However they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which retaliated, leading to an encounter,” a police spokesperson said.
The joint team also rescued all the civilians trapped in the crossfire and halted the operation for the time to ensure safe evacuation from the area. ....

3 Lashkar militants killed in Anantnag, OGW held in Kupwara

Srinagar, May 11 : Three militants of Lashkar-e Toiba were killed in an encounter in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district today while an Over Ground Worker of militants was arrested with ammunition in Kupwara.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar told Excelsior that three local militants were killed in Vailoo area of Kokernag belt in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district during a joint operation launched by Police, Army’s 19 RR and CRPF on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that militants were repeatedly asked to surrender but they refused and were killed in the gun battle. He said that security forces rescued all the civilians trapped in the gunfire and halted the operation for till the evacuation of people from the area of gunfight. ....

SRINAGAR: Three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists holed up in a house at Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district were shot dead by security forces on Tuesday after they refused an offer to surrender and opened fire at the advancing team, J&K Police said.
Villagers caught in the crossfire were safely evacuated after the joint team of the police, Army and CRPF paused the operation for some time to ensure there were no civilian casualties.
The 4am encounter took place after security forces zeroed in on a house at Sheikhpora village in the Vailoo area of Kokernag, based on intelligence inputs about the presence of three Lashkar terrorists there. The trio had been given the opportunity to surrender, but they chose to retaliate. All three were killed in the ensuing encounter, a police spokesperson said. ....

Three Lashkar militants killed in gunfight with security forces in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Three local militants of that Lashkar-e-Toiba were killed in an encounter with security forces at Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday.
A police spokesman said a joint contingent of police, CRPF and army laid siege around Sheikhpora village in Vailoo area of Kokernag in Anantnag district in the early hours after receiving inputs about the presence of militants there.
“After plugging off all possible escape routes, troops zeroed-in on a residential house where the militants were hiding. They were given an opportunity to surrender. However, they turned down the offer and fired on troops,” he said. ....
