Born in 2004, Brunt – a prefect at Mount Albert Grammar School – is the youngest of the lot, having just turned 17. That means she wasn’t yet alive the last time the Blues men won Super Rugby – or Super 12, as it was known back then – in May 2003. But if that makes you feel old, don’t worry, because assistant coach Anna Richards is in the same boat. “They love telling me that they weren t born when I last played, so I m not too happy about that,” she joked on Thursday, when asked about her team’s teenagers.

Taranaki-based Iritana Hohaia, who was named on the bench on Thursday, and Chiefs assistant coach La Toya Mason, a former England halfback of 70 tests, have been making that arduous journey to Cambridge or Hamilton for training ahead of facing the Blues in Saturday’s landmark fixture at Eden Park.

Four Northland Farah Palmer Cup reps have been named in a talent-laden Auckland Storm women s squad for the historic encounter against Waitomo Chiefs this weekend.
Also selected is Northland women s assistant coach Cheryl Smith who will help head coach Willie Walker and legendary Anna Richards, a four-time Rugby World Cup winner and member of the IRB Hall of Fame.

The Blues and Chiefs have named talent-laden squads for next month’s inaugural women’s Super Rugby match.
More than 20 Black Ferns will feature in the historic encounter on Saturday, May 1 at Eden Park.
The Blues squad is headed by Black Ferns captain Eloise Blackwell and also includes her Auckland team-mates Ruahei Demant, Charmaine McMenamin, Aldoa Itunu, Natahlia Moors, Aleisha Nelson, Saphire Abraham and Cristo Tofa.
Black Ferns hooker Te Kura Ngata-Aerengamate is one of four Northland players in the Blues squad, which also features three North Harbour reps.
