To help 1.35 crore beneficiaries in 4 states
Over 1 crore beneficiaries of the Employees’ State Insurance scheme in 113 districts of Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra will be able to avail themselves of cashless medical treatment at hospitals empanelled with Ayushman Bharat, with the Labour Ministry on Wednesday launching the convergence of the two schemes.
Those registered for Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana can get cashless medical treatment at 15 ESIC hospitals and medical colleges in Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, a Ministry statement said. ....

“It is not possible to increase the minimum monthly pension amount without compromising the financial viability of the scheme and additional budgetary support,” labour minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar said in response to a question in Rajya Sabha.

Labour minister Gangwar said as per section 141 of the Code on Social Security, 2020, the central government shall establish a Social Security Fund for social security and welfare of the unorganised workers, gig workers and platform workers.
The government on Wednesday said raising the minimum monthly pension under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation will compromise the financial viability of the scheme while putting an additional burden on the exchequer. ....

New Delhi [India], March 10 (ANI): Minister of State for Labour and EmploymentSantosh Kumar Gangwar on Wednesday launched the convergence of the ESI scheme with Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY in 113 districts of four states, on the culmination day of ESIC Special Services Fortnight in the national capital.
According to an official statement by the ministry, the convergence will ensure that 1.35 crore ESI beneficiaries in such districts avail cashless medical services through empanelled hospitals of Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY without any need of a referral.
To avail of medical care, the insured worker or the beneficiary need to carry an ESIC e-pehchan card or Health Passbook and Aadhar Card with them. ....

In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Gangwar said that the Centre is paying Employer s full contribution i.e. 12 per cent towards Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees Pension Scheme (EPS) both (as admissible from time to time) for a period of three years to the new employees through Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).
The beneficiaries registered upto March 31, 2019, will continue to receive the benefits for three years from the date of registration under the scheme.
Furthermore, he also said that the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana (ABRY) Scheme is being implemented with effect from October 1, 2020 to incentivise the creation of new employment along with social security benefits and restoration of loss of employment during the COVID-19 pandemic. ....
