hours to avoid a shutdown this week. where do things stand right now on the hill. reporter: hi, peter. forgive me if i have to sit down abruptly. we ve expecting the speaker behind me any moment. there s a long list of questions here they re grappling with. the spending bill is one that has gotten a little bit basically worked out as republicans have essentially taken the wall off of the table, although they have added to the border security money. democrats are not objecting to spending, extra spending on border security. they sort of drew the line in the sand with that wall on the mexican border. so at this point we re hearing from republicans and democrats that things are on track for them to reach an agreement. they have handful of things to work out, health benefits. we re going to hear from the senators from west virginia on that later today. but the question here today for a lot of house republicans is going to be health care. as the freedom caucus, that conservative
landscape and this week, the president trying to put a stamp on the first 100 days that has seen few major legislative successes and a slue of bad poll numbers. let s start with kelly o donnell behind me at the white house. let s start with kacie hunt on capitol hill with breaking news on health care. what do we know at this point? reporter: well, craig, what we know is that the freedom caucus has said that they are in favor and supportive of this compromise that we have been talking about over the course of the last week or two around health care that could clear the way for this obamacare repeal and replacement legislation, the american health care act, to get the 216 votes that it would need on the house floor to go forward. we are still waiting the tuesday group, one of the groups of moderate members here in the house. they re meeting behind closed doors in the capitol basement. in the freedom caucus has said that they are on board with this, it s not clear that house l
20% we re in the same ballpark. so we re going to have to get together on those kinds of details. the house freedom caucus a very conservative group had been one of the big obstacles to the trump administration s goal of replacing obamacare. now, they say they are onboard with a revised plan, but still, a question looms, will the votes be there for republicans? and the full senate has headed over to the white house. they are there right now. a rare classified briefing for all 100 members of the senate at the white house. the subject, north korea. is it preparation for a military crisis? we re going to be watching for any signs of what is on the agenda there. we begin, though, with our top story. it is another very busy day in this, the week of donald trump s 100th day in office. a very busy day on capitol hill from taxes, health care, north korea. we ve got our reporters out covering all of this. kristen welker at the white house. kelly o donnell, she is on capitol hill.
