Aylmer, Ont. residents applaud police action as Church of God remains site of defiance

  AYLMER, ONT. The Aylmer Police Service has laid charges after an investigation into a reported gathering at the Church of God Restoration (COGR) Tuesday evening. Police said they received a public complaint about a large gathering at the church around 8:20 p.m. Aylmer Police Chief Zvonko Horvat says officers responded and observed 18 vehicles parked in the lot. “Those that were in the church came outside. That’s when the officers engaged those that were inside and issued four provincial offence notices.” According to police, none of the 18 individuals were practicing social distancing. The four people charged face counts under the Reopening Ontario Act for individual – fail to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order.
