Electrifying exhibit entices at Sandwich Glass Museum One-of-a-kind show on view through June 13 Barbara Clark BARBARA CLARK Move over, Lava Lamps! – The Sandwich Glass Museum has you topped and then some, in its new exhibit, “Electric Garden of Unearthly Delights.” New technologies and high-frequency static electricity, coupled with advanced techniques in the art of glassblowing, have transformed the museum’s Hirschmann Theater into a darkened space full of moving fluorescent colors and changing patterns of light, all enclosed in hand-blown glass shapes. Sculptures displayed in the Electric Garden are the creation of glass artist Mundy Hepburn, a Connecticut native who has been working with blown glass for more than 30 years, experimenting by filling his tubular creations with various gas mixtures such as helium, neon, argon, xenon and krypton, activating the mixtures with charges of static electricity.
