LAS CRUCES – The family of Khyana Sky Morales, 19, who passed away Dec. 5, 2020, has established a foundation in the teen’s honor and will begin awarding scholarships to Doña Ana County students this fall. Morales was found unresponsive in early October 2020 and required CPR, having gone without blood or oxygen to her brain for an unspecified amount of time. She was taken to MountainView Regional Medical Center where she spent time in the intensive care unit. Manny Morales, Khyana’s father said that due to the publicity and local support surrounding his daughter’s medical fight, the GoFundMe set up to support her raised over $14,000. The family decided to establish a foundation in Khyana’s name and put the excess money to use by awarding scholarships to local students in need. ....
