The black community really as early as possible? as early as possible and often as possible. i think african-americans recognize their voting power and have been leveraging that to really drive traffic to states where honestly, we haven t seen a lot of democratic candidates spending a lot of time investing in infrastructure to engage those voters. not just hear their stories like trymaine was sharing, hear their stories, offer up different policy proposals that are going to address their challenges. in addition to health care, talking about criminal justice reform, talking about reparations, talking about rural african-americans who are oftentimes omitted entirely from policy discussions, so getting there early, often, and building inroads and providing solutions in the form of policy platforms and investment in staffing and infrastructure, that is not only going to be effective in 2020 but long after to ensure that voters stay engaged. sand juanita, when you talk about engagement, ....
You said specificity. juanita, when i ve been talking to black voters, for example, we even went to the breakfast club, a popular hip-hop radio show across the country. good for you. all the radio hosts, they kept saying we want to hear as a black community specific answers. don t give us this all vote are going to rise with the tide. what do you think the candidates are doing wrong when they re addressing black voters? i mean, i think it s so mission of the nuance. it s one thing to say that you recognize there are systemic influences and biases against people of color but not going a step further to completely re-brand the and rebuild the criminal justice reform reform criminal justice in a way that is going to positively influence their lives. i think we ve seen this a lot with the decriminalization of mire juan thn marijuana. the fact that people are moving forward and building massive businesses off it, young african-americans are still in prison serving time for selling ....
