Four months to the day after the first coronavirus vaccine doses went into arms in San Diego County, everyone age 16 and older now qualifies, as of Thursday, to sign up for the quick stick that increasingly governs where people can go when they leave their homes.
It’s a particularly heady milestone given skepticism among many experts that getting any meaningful vaccine supply was likely in the first half of 2021.
How far things have come since those first Pfizer doses were administered to health care workers on Dec. 15, 2020. Just four months ago, the road to herd immunity seemed endless with more than a million people with special circumstances either due to their age, employment status or medical condition in line to get their shots before anything came available for the rest.

Saying “it’s just time,” quarterback Philip Rivers is calling it a career in the NFL.
Following one season with the Indianapolis Colts and 16 years with the Los Angeles (and San Diego) Chargers, the quarterback is retiring. He shared the news with Kevin Acee of the
Rivers, 39, ends his NFL career with 63,440 passing yards (ranking fifth all-time), 421 touchdowns (also fifth), and a 65 percent completion percentage. He threw for 4,000 yards or more 12 times in his career, including each of the past eight seasons. During his final campaign, he completed 68 percent of his passes for 4,169 yards with 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while averaging 7.7 yards per attempt.
