WITH travel and vacations having been put paid by the raging pandemic that swept the world, finally there is light at the end of the tunnel with the reopening of popular holiday islands in Thailand.
With the country’s “island tourism approach”, fully-vaccinated travellers are now allowed to enter several island destinations without undergoing quarantine.
For a long-awaited dose of sun, sea and sand, the Phuket Sandbox and the Samui Plus programmes allow international travellers to once again enjoy the pleasures of Thai beaches and hospitality.
Koh Samui has opened to international travellers since July 15.
Starting from July 15, the ‘Samui Plus’ programme covers specific areas and routes in Surat Thani province’s three islands of Koh Samui, Koh Pha-ngan and Koh Tao. ....

Hotel options under Samui Plus

International visitors under the Samui Plus programme can choose from two accommodation options;
‘Samui Extra Plus’ and
‘SHA Plus’ hotels, which have been officially approved in terms of hygiene and safety.
During the first 14-nights, international visitors must book accommodation for the first seven nights in a
‘Samui Extra Plus’ hotel on Samui island. They can book the second option
‘SHA Plus’ hotel on Samui, Pha Ngan, or Tao islands during the remaining seven nights. After 14 nights, they are then free to travel elsewhere in Thailand.

Samui Extra Plus hotels target international visitors to Samui. They were formerly identified as ALQ hotels (now AQ hotels). They have been specially assigned for the Samui Plus programme.
