The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s office reported that, as of May 21, Bryan was leading with 50.7% of counted ballots (21,388 votes) over his closest opponent, fellow Democrat Heather Hutt.

LOS ANGELES (AP) Isaac Bryan jumped out to an enormous lead Tuesday in the race for a state Assembly seat in a heavily Democratic Los Angeles district.
Preliminary results gave Bryan 49.7% of the votes in Tuesday’s special election for the 54th Assembly seat, according to the Secretary of State.
Bryan would need more than half the votes to avoid a special runoff election that would be held July 20 between the top two vote-getters.
The 54th state Assembly seat was vacated by now-Sen. Sydney Kamlager, who endorsed Bryan, her former senior adviser. Bryan also serves on the Los Angeles Unified School District’s redistricting commission.

Vote centers are open and available for the May 18 special primary election for Assembly District 54, officials said Saturday. The vote centers will remain open every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for in-person voting or to drop off completed vote by mail ballots, according to Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan.
All centers will follow public health and safety guidelines related to COVID-19. The election is being held to fill the seat vacated when Sydney Kamlager won the March 2 special election to fill the 30th Senate District seat that opened up when Holly Mitchell won election to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

LOS ANGELES Six candidates are on the ballot for California’s 54th Assembly District in a special primary election that has already begun and ends on May 18.
Governor Gavin Newsom called this election to fill the seat, which was previously held by Sydney Kamlager, who was elected to the 30th Senate District on March 2, 2021. If one candidate receives a majority of all votes cast in the special primary election, they will be declared elected, and the special general election shall not be held. If no candidate receives a majority of votes in the primary election, the top two vote-getters will be placed on the special general election ballot.
