As the COVID-19 pandemic drags into a second year, colleges and universities have weighed the risks of in-person graduation ceremonies against the disappointment of college seniors who want their hard work celebrated.
Many Florida colleges and universities have decided to go ahead with plans for in-person graduations and designed ceremonies allowing for increased sanitation and social distancing. Others, including the Florida Institute of Technology, will forgo the traditional celebrations for digital alternatives.
Updated graduation plans for Eastern Florida State College were presented at a Monday board of trustees meeting. The college announced at the beginning of April that it would host in-person graduation events at the King Center for Performing Arts at its Melbourne campus.
