Three people were killed in the shooting, more than a dozen others hurt. In a News Conference yesterday, the police chief said the gunman, 19yearold santino legan, died from a selfinflicted gunshot. Abc 7 news spoke with john perales, a gilroy resident flagged down by multiple shooting victims. Perales drove the victims to the hospital. Abc 7 News Reporter luz pena has his heroic story. So probably about an hour ago. We were sleeping and the dog woke us up crying. I, you know, took the dog outside and then you could totally smell just that heavy smell of smoke. And i kind of looked up and over the horizon you could just see the orange glow. Wow. And so it is it is too close. Yes. How is it your area, are there a lot of other houses that are kind of close to the fire . It is kind of sporadic farmland. We do have neighbors, and actually as i was outside with the dog and we were kind of looking up at the glow, our neighbor drove by rigt then on his truck and yesterday out the window, we got a fire pretty near. So my husband actually went with him to go check on the livestock, to make sure everything is okay. The fire has reached the neighbors cow pond. Oh, gosh. We are looking at that picture that you sent in. I can understand why you feel like it is too close. I mean it seems pretty significant. Are you staying indoors . Top. They are fighting this fire. They are cutting lines, doing some pretty good work according to the cal fire folks that we just talked to, trying to get a handle on this fire that is now burning to the east. Cal fire says, believe it or not, this is one of 10 to 12 fires now burning in this area. How much has burned . Cal fire tells us about 500 acres. This started several hours ago between 3 30 and 4 00 a. M. Here in the clayton area. As i said, up to 10 to 12 fires burning between here, marsh creek road, down to morgan terpt road, even down to deer valley road. Now, a Mobile Home Park is down in that area. It was evacuated for a time. Folks have now been allowed, according to cal fire, to return. Everyone else including the ranch here that is at the bottom of the hill where the flames are happening have been told to shelter in place. So far no evacuations. The good news is no structures have been burned. We just talked to cal fire moments ago. Here is what a representative had to
