Two Republicans and two Democrats are vying for two seats on the McLean County Board that represent north Normal: incumbent Jim Rogal and Krystle Able represent Democrats in the race, while Jerry Klinkner and Steve Harsh are on the Republican ticket.

McLean County Approves 5th Wind Farm; Names Rogal To Board Vacancy

WGLT McLean County Clerk Kathy Michael on Thursday administered the oath to Jim Rogal as he was sworn in to serve on the county board. The McLean County Board on Thursday approved construction of a $350 million wind farm project in the southeastern corner of the county, becoming the county’s fifth wind farm. The board also named labor union leader Jim Rogal to fill a board vacancy in District 4, and approved a contract for interim county administrator Cassy Taylor. Sapphire Sky Wind Energy LLC won approval to build up to 64 wind turbines of up to 590 feet tall across more than 14,000 acres in Bellflower and West townships. The wind farm would generate 250 megawatts of power and plans to provide power to about 80,000 homes annually.

Rogal Poised To Join McLean County Board After Pyne Withdraws

A McLean County Board candidate withdrew her candidacy for a vacant seat Monday, paving the way for the only other applicant to fill the post. Democrat Sally Pyne said a county GOP official asked her to apply for the vacant seat in District 4 that covers parts of west and northwest Normal. Pyne and Jim Rogal were the only candidates who filed to serve the remaining 17 months of Logan Smith’s term. Smith announced last month he was taking a job out of state.
