The Lower East Side Heritage Film Series at Seward Park Library has a fun line-up this month. This Tuesday they will focus on “Bubbies & Beats.” On the program: (1959, 29 min., 16mm) “Friday morning in the universe…” is the opening line of Jack Kerouac’s improvisational narration of a day in the life of the Beat poets. In a Bowery loft, a railyard worker plays host to the Beat poets, a visiting Bishop, his sister and mother. Awarded the first prize for Best Experimental Film for 1959 at the San Francisco Festival, the film is a “portrait of the inner condition of an entire generation.” Featuring Allan Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, Larry Rivers, Delphine Seyrig, Peter Orlovsky, Pablo Frank, Mooney Peebles, Alice Neal, Sally Gross.
