AROUND 80 people were fed on Christmas day thanks to festive deliveries from Salisbury volunteers. Encircles, the charity for the homeless and isolated, has been busy throughout December gathering donations and presents to make sure families in need can have a Christmas day to remember. After setting up a fundraising page online, the charity received around £1,700 in donations, which was used to provide food and gifts to around 20 families. The money was in addition to presents and food supplies provided by Salisbury residents and businesses, including The Salisbury Butcher, The Happy Fruiters and Central Fruits. Lorna Gavin, who led the project, said the amount of support was phenomenal and had snowballed since the idea and fundraising page was launched.
