Voters in Quispamsis now have a better understanding of where their two mayoral candidates stand on a number of issues.
Gary Clark and Libby O’Hara took part in a mayoral forum Wednesday morning hosted by the Saint John Region Chamber.
The two candidates were asked questions on several topics, but it was amalgamation and regionalization which came up most often.
“At this point in time, I don’t think amalgamation is on the table. I don’t want to see it on the table. I want to see, right at this point in time, what we can do on a regional basis,” O’Hara said.

A British couple is looking to set a world record this year by travelling from New Brunswick to England by balloon.
Deborah Day and Mike Scholes are hoping international borders will open by this summer to allow them to attempt their crossing from our Sussex to their home in Sussex, U-K.
This will be their third attempt as the pandemic foiled plans for the trip last summer, and there was a worldwide helium shortage in 2019, according to CTV.
If successful, Day would be the first woman to captain a transatlantic balloon crossing, while Scholes would become the first blind crew member on such a trip.
The Public Prosecution Service says R-C-M-P officers were protecting themselves and civilians when they fatally shot an Indigenous man last summer.
Rodney Levi, from the Metepenagiag (met-EHH’-peh-nah-ghee-ah) First Nation, was shot and killed on June 12th after police responded to a complaint about a disturbance in a home in Sunny Corner.
The prosecution service says, while the decision does not diminish the tragedy of the event, a reviw by a Quebec police agency said it is obvious officers on the scene believed Levi was using force against them.
There’s no comment from the Levi family on this latest news other than they are considering their legal options.
84 year old Pauline Gauvin, a long term care resident in Miramichi was the first New Brunswiker to receive the Covid-19 vaccine over the weekend. .
Nicolette Noel of Miramichi was the first nurse to receive the COVID-19 vaccine – while Dr. Carl Boucher of Caraquet was the first New Brunswick physician to receive the injection.
The first vaccinations were administered Saturday at the Miramihci Regional Hopsital.
Meanwhile, the province reported five new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday and none on Sunday. Public health did revise its total number of cases over the weekend, saying two Saint John area cases were accounted for in other provinces; while two other previously confirmed cases had now been identified as false-positive tests. As of Sunday afternoon there were 45 active cases of the virus remaining in New Brunswick.
