A top commander of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Addah Al-Bendir was killed on 7th April near the ceasefire sand ridge border in western Sahara marking SADR-held territory. According to SADR, he was killed in an alleged airstrike by Moroccan defence forces. Though Morocco has stayed silent on the airstrike, the attack might be retaliation to the skirmishes along the ceasefire line for the past few months.
The Polisario is a rebel group of the Sahrawi people fighting for control over Western Sahara. The ceasefire was agreed upon in 1991 but last November, Polisario withdrew from the ceasefire agreement. Since then, irregular tensions have been witnessed along the ridge border between both parties. ....
