Daily Times July 17, 2021 SOC Films released the second animated film Corona Virus and Mental Health from the “Siyani Sahelian” animation series, as part of the collaborative program with Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi. Corona and Mental Health highlights the impact of coronavirus and its socio-economic effect on people’s mental health. Asghari, the main character in the animated film, shares her suggestions and tips on how to manage mental health and anxiety by enforcing activities and patterns of mindfulness in the everyday routines. The second animated film has been scripted by Safyah Usmani with animation by Kulsum Ibrahim, sound by Sameer Khan, editing by Sourath Behan and voiceovers by Rabia Kiran Rajput, Mariam Rizvi and Ali Akbar. ....

MTV docufilm A Life Too Short revisits honour killing of Qandeel Baloch Produced by SOC and directed by Safyah Usmani, the short film focuses on Pakistan’s first social media star MTV Documentary Films’ A Life Too Short – which revolves around the honour killing of one of Pakistan’s first social-media stars, Qandeel Baloch – debuted on Pluto TV on Friday, January 22. The short, produced by two-time Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, directed by Safyah Usmani and executive produced by Sheila Nevins and Guy Oseary, was recently spotlighted at Deadline’s Contenders International awards-season showcase. The film focuses on how Baloch became a ‘new kind of celebrity’ in Pakistan, who was beautiful, outspoken and dared to challenge the norms of this society by posting semi-nude photos of herself while voicing provocative opinions. It also goes onto show how her murder brought about a change in Pakistan’s laws. ....
