RAWALPINDI: A 12-year-old boy was sexually assaulted by a youth at Adiala, police said on Thursday.
The father of the victim, a vendor, complained to the police that his son was going to a nearby market when he was forcibly taken to a house by the suspect and sexually assaulted.
Meanwhile, some miscreants fired gunshots at the gate of an imambargah in Chak Jalalddin on Wednesday night.
Arfeen Haider Butt complained to the Saddar Barooni police that he was offering prayers in the imambargah at 8pm when the miscreants riding a motorcycle opened fire at the main gate and fled. However, he said, nobody was injured as the main gate was closed. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. ....

Pindi sees record 70 incidents of street crime in single day - Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: Residents of the city experienced record 70 incidents of street crimes in a single day on Monday, including 19 robberies, 17 motorcycle, 5 cars and other vehicles theft and 27 burglaries and mobile phone snatching.
Majority of the robberies and mobile phone snatching were committed by motorcycle riders.
Ms Shamila Kasur, resident of Kahuta, complained to the Civil Lines police that she was waiting for a wagon at Mareer Chowk when a wagon stopped near her in which three women had already been traveling in.
She said she sat on the seat and as the wagon crossed Katcheri chowk, she was held by the two women and the wagon driver who snatched her four gold bangles and later pushed her outside the wagon near Ayub National Park and sped off. She said the value of the gold bangles was estimated at Rs 400,000. ....

Four suspects removed from terror watch list - Newspaper

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Home Department has removed the names of four alleged workers of Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) from the fourth schedule of Anti-Terrorism Act, which brought the number of those on the watch list in Rawalpindi to 39.
With the addition of 18 people on the fourth schedule early this year, the number of the suspects in Rawalpindi had increased to 43.
However, the Home Department has now removed the names of four alleged workers of TLP from the list.
As many as 25 individuals from Rawalpindi district had already been placed on the fourth schedule.
One of the 25 individuals died due to illness. ....

Lower courts ensure speedy justice: Four get death, one lifetime jail in separate cases

RAWALPINDI: On the directions of Lahore High Court (LHC), the lower courts are actively deciding murder, kidnapping for ransom and rape cases within months rather than taking five to eight years.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka Tuesday awarded death and Rs500,000 fine to a man for killing his wife on some domestic issue. Saddar Barooni police registered a case against Qaiser Mehmood for killing his wife and seriously injuring his father-in-law, Muhammad Taufiq, in March 2020. In another case, Additional District and Sessions Judge Masood Akhtar Kiyani awarded death and Rs500,000 fine to a man for killing his father-in-law on a domestic issue. ....
