Station. The police say the bad guys are getting more desperate and violent. A dramatic robbery caught on camera. You see two men running up to a car, one potential victim immediately takes off running. The car speeds away leaving an older man fending for himself. During the brief struggle the robber fires off one shot narrowly missing the mans head. The robber takes the victims wallet and least. Its insanity but thats whats happening on this street. Reporter councilman noel gallo says police are reporting a 60 increase in robberies along the busiest corridors in his fruitvale district. 42 cases between july and october. Police used this map to pinpoint those robberies. Most of them along international boulevard. And they happened mostly on saturdays and fridays. Fridays are known as mexican fridays to the thugs and those that are making the robberies because on friday afternoons, friday evenings is when a lot of us get paid in cash.
