Three members of U of R Rams invited to East-West Bowl By Mitchell Blair May 12, 2021 | 2:28 PM They won’t get a chance to play, but three members of the University of Regina Rams have been chosen for Team West at the 2021 East-West Bowl which showcases prospects for the 2022 CFL draft. The three are receiver Bennett Stusek, defensive back Jaxon Ford and linebacker Ryder Varga. In two seasons with the club, Stusek, who went to high school at Regina’s Campbell Collegiate, has caught 54 passes for 918 yards and two touchdowns. Ford, who was a teammate of Stusek’s at Campbell, is a key member of the secondary. In his two years with the “Horns”, Ford has accumulated 62 total tackles including 4.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, and seven pass deflections for the Rams. ....

(Ben Berger/University of Regina Athletics) Nine university football players with ties to Saskatchewan have been named to the Team West roster for the 2021 U Sports East-West Bowl. Unfortunately for the players, the game won’t be played due to COVID-19. The 2020 all-star contest also was cancelled due to the pandemic. The annual game highlights players who are eligible for the following year’s CFL draft. Five members of the Saskatchewan Huskies were selected for Team West: Defensive back Charlie Ringland (who hails from Winnipeg), defensive lineman Nathan Cherry (Saskatoon), kicker David Solie (Saskatoon), offensive lineman Noah Zerr (Langenburg) and running back Adam Machart (Saskatoon). ....
