With his new project âSanta Barbara,â Detroit rapper and longtime Danny Brown associate Fat Ray delivers tremendous hardcore rhymes over classic grimey production, putting himself and the independent Bruiser Brigade Records on the map. The Bruiser Brigade has existed in some form or another for a decade running, first popping up on the seventh track of group architect Danny Brownâs 2011 project âXXX.â Yet, the label of the same name is just getting off the ground, after launching last January with the release of âGOD GOKU JAY-Zâ by signee, rapper-producer J.U.S. The second official Bruiser Brigade release âSanta Barbara,â which is available exclusively on bandcamp and executive produced by Danny Brown, pays homage to the Detroit underground scene that birthed Brown and is evidence that Fat Ray is criminally underrated. ....
Amid Cambridgeâs Covid-19 vaccination campaign and phased reopening, city officials urged the public to remain vigilant against the spread of virus variants during a Monday City Council meeting. On Feb. 18, Massachusetts progressed to Phase Two of its vaccination program, which extends coverage to individuals over the age of 65, residents and staff of low and affordable income senior housing, and individuals with two or more comorbidities. Teachers, service workers, and individuals with one underlying medical condition also fall under âPhase 2,â but are not yet eligible to receive the vaccine. The general population will have access to the vaccine under âPhase 3,â which is set to begin in April, per the Massachusetts Department of Health. ....
On âIf It Bleeds It Can Be Killed,â his second full length collaboration with producer Big Ghost LTD., Buffalo rapper and founding member of Griselda Records Conway the Machine continues to carry the torch of classic, throwback rap into the modern era. Supported by stellar beat-making from Big Ghost LTD., the album stands tall among the Griselda catalogue and sees Conway in peak lyrical form. Conway and the rest of the Griselda lineup have been on a hot streak â releasing nine projects in 2020 among the five official members â with no end in sight. 2021 will mark the fulfilment of Griseldaâs contract with Eminemâs Shady Records following the 2020 release of âWho Made the Sunshineâ from Griselda Records president Westside Gunn and upcoming Conway record âGod Donât Make Mistakes,â which is rumored to drop at the end of February. Yet, free agency seems to suit the Griselda outfit best. âFrom King to a God,â Conwayâ ....
In an update to the City Council on Monday, Cambridge officials announced that the city is moving forward with its reopening plans, despite an ongoing vaccine supply shortage in the city. The city officially entered “Phase Three, Step 1” of its reopening process on Monday as case numbers continue to improve, according to City Manager Louis A. DePasquale. Under the new phase, gyms, museums, and restaurants can operate at 40 percent capacity, up from 25 percent. In addition, libraries can resume contactless pickup. Indoor gatherings, however, are still limited to 10 individuals and outdoor events must remain under 25 people. New Covid-19 infections have decreased since January, when the positivity rate in Cambridge reached its peak. The city continues to ramp up its testing regime, administering 4,919 tests last week and 31,595 last month, according to DePasquale. ....
Cambridge began vaccinating residents 75 or older at the beginning of February as it entered the next phase of its Covid-19 vaccination program, though statewide and national vaccine shortages continue to hamper its rollout. On Feb. 1, the state entered Phase Two of its vaccine distribution program, during which residents aged 75 or older became eligible to receive the vaccine. Individuals aged 65 or older, school and public health workers, and individuals with comorbidities will also be able to receive the Covid-19 vaccine later in Phase Two, though the exact date is still unknown. During Phase One, the City of Cambridge administered 1,231 vaccines to first responders and individuals experiencing homelessness, according to Cambridge Chief Public Health Officer Claude Jacob, who presented an update on the city’s Covid-19 response during the Feb. 3 City Council meeting. ....
