Brad Van Schaik of West Elgin, who with his wife Ruth Pugh are members of the local TransCanada Trail committee, surveyed the damage and say they could hardly believe the damage inflicted on the five bridges.
“We’ve never seen anything like this,” Van Schaik said June 30. “I was just talking to the guy who put those bridges in 20 years ago and he couldn’t believe that the water had the power to move them like that.”
