and continue to get some positive reactions and negative reactions. some people took real offense at the title. if there was one aspect of the book that probably got me the most negative reaction was people who complained about the title, and who thought that i was being sensationalist, i was exploiting this term by putting it right there in the title, right there on the cover of a book that would appear in your book stores all across america. and what i said to people was and i still say and i say this unapologetically if you write a book you want people to read your book. there are thousands of books in any book store. there are hundreds of thousands of books in any big library, and you got a lot of competition. the first thing you want to do, if you re an author, is to at least have somebody pick up the book. and so when i was thinking of a title issue thousand what i can title this book that would get somebody to take a peek, read the first paragraph. and i thought,
[applause] good morning, everyone. apparently, it s red friday. we re all dressed in red today. [laughter] lots of red in the crowd as well. i hope you re having a good time in washington d.c. the weather is holding out for you, it s not so hot today and not so humid, which is great. how many of you have heard what do you think of when you think of fast and furious? what s the first thing that pops into your head? [inaudible] scandal, for you? anyone think of the movie? [laughter] the series of movies. obama s trying to get people to think that [inaudible] right. exactly. he won t admit that his own justice department sent them to cartels to kill people. well, the embarrassing part about the name fast and furious is that the obama justice department actually named this lethal program after the hollywood movie, and i have the official government slide show, atf slide show cover to prove it. they actually took a screen shot of the hollywood movie cover and put it
do something to counter this. so what they decided to do is loosen up a little, continue some economic liberalization. but the idea was specifically to increase the number of rich business people and the middle class, motto make a free not to make a free society, but to co-opt the educated class which had led the revolution before. and that s what they have right now. so the businessmen and the business leaders and the white collar or class all owe where they are to the communist party and are mostly members of the communist party. so you re not going to have any friction between, say, the entrepreneurs and the business owners and the party because they re, essentially, one and the same. and if anybody bucks the system, they can just be plucked out and replaced with somebody else. i guess the underlying crisis that i address in the book is, um, and on the back of it there s this great photo. people think i m too fixated on it, but it s the president of the united states bow
where we can freely come together and gather and share ideas. lord, we thank you so much for phyllis, her vision, her faithfulness, her unrelenting work and for her unique insight into what makes this nation so excellent. we know that it s you. father, a thank you for each one of use of thank you for each one of these and people. we thank you for the time and pray that continues throughout the day. please bless each one of our speakers as they come out and impart wisdom. we pray that you would bless each one of these young people at that lead today to go out and change the nation, to protect those values that make it so great, to reflect you. we pray that each one of these and people would not grow weary but they would mount up on the wings like eagles. but pinky for the state and ask you to bless it might lead in jesus name. thank you. and we do appreciate the hospitality of the heritage foundation for some 200 students coming from about 100 different colleges. i hope y
of this. this really is my sorority. it s an honor to speak to you and to you. i m just as excited as i have been every time. i can t wait to come back and see my family. i was never involved in politics before. i live in texas and in my ignorance i assumed we are a red state and they re going to vote the way we re we would have voted anyway. i saw sarah palin speak. i didn t think they would give the floor to a woman with a voice of her own. i didn t think they realized that she had one. she was the complete opposite of what i had assumed she would be. she was a wife, a mother, a leader and a fighter and she didn t apologize for it or hide from it. she was bold and in your face and basically came out saying, this is who i am and i hope you like me but if you don t i m still ok with that. this is me. that was a kicker in the rear for me. it made me get involved, get off my butt. i got involved in smart girl politics and i m so thankful that i did. that started me blogging.
