reporter: the head of the resorts beach patrol says at least five beach goers have needed treatment for heat exhaustion in the past couple days alone. you sit in that sand and you know it s real hot and some of these people don t hydrate themselves. you got to drink a lot of water. quite honestly you should be down by the water s edge. reporter: that s where crystal planted her chair at 9:00 this morning. it didn t take long for the prime spots on the sand to quickly fill up. i have to. it s too hot back there. reporter: for a good part of the day there was no cooling sea breeze to bring relief. even right along the coach it felt like 96 making the 73 degree ocean extremely popular. it was so hot we literally spent probably most of the hours in the ocean. you would come out and the sun would burn your skin as soon as you got out. reporter: lifeguards tell us many of the people who have been suffering from heat exhaustion are older folks. they say with the ....
to other news now. take a look at this. a small plane crash in lehigh county this morning. skyforce 10 over the scene where amazingly, the pilot survived and we are told was alert. the single engine experimental plane went down into the little lehigh creek in allentown, very close to i-78 as you see on the map. the faa just released a statement saying it is investigating. they say the plane was an experimental aircraft and built from a kit. we are also hearing the pilot may be injured but was conscious as the rescue crews worked to get him out of this plane. he was the only one on board. the faa says it s not clear what caused the crash. police are turning their attention to preventing any additional problems that this accident could cause. we are concerned, you can see we still have crews on scene. we will be putting our haz/mat unit, put in booms across the water and such for any fuel or fluid that leaked from the plane. we will continue to keep an eye on this pla ....

to a lot of cities in the southeast cecily tynan is here with more. reporter: good news for our region but this is a dangerous storm heading to the southeast coast of florida, still a category 3 hurricane. maximum sustained wins of 120 miles per hour. it s probably undergoing eye wall replacement cycle. there is florida only 400 miles away a huge storm 300 miles across and making a beeline moving northwest at 12 miles per hour. this is the latest track from the national hurricane center, it does have a category 4 lan fall near cape canaveral with maximum sustains winds of 130 miles per hour. it parallels georgia and brushes the coast of south carolina saturday afternoon as a category 2 hurricane, before it makes a quick hook out to sea. as a category 1 hurricane and perhaps meandering off the southeast coast. since yesterday we had a major shift in the official track of this hurricane. yesterday at this time talking about it rolling up the coast and now there is prett ....
