She is already planning for a special election, which is part of her job. ALPENA Townships come in various sizes and have different numbers of employees to run them. That can make the day-to-day jobs involved in running one township very different from the jobs needed to run another. Three township trustees from around Northeast Michigan talked to The News about those and other issues: BIG-PICTURE, WHAT IS YOUR JOB? Laura Hilla, treasurer, Rogers Township: “My job as township treasurer is to collect current-year summer and winter property taxes for Rogers Township in Presque Isle County. At the beginning of March, any unpaid taxes for the previous year are turned over to the county to collect and are considered delinquent.” ....
Feb. 22 1:47 a.m.: A 911 call reporting suspicious activity around the Northland Apartments in Briley Township. MCSO Deputy responded to the area. 6:45 p.m.: A vehicle accident involving a deer occurred in Rust Township; deputies responded, no one was injured. 10:30 p.m.: While on routine patrol, a MCSO Deputy initiated a traffic stop in Vienna Township; subject was arrested for operating under the influence. He is now lodged at MCSO jail. Deputies cleared without incident. 10:44 p.m.: Dispatch received a call about a potential domestic assault that took place earlier in the day; investigation is ongoing. 11:37 p.m.: While on routine patrol, a Deputy spotted a car with its hazard lights flashing and stopped to help and see what was going on; the subject had just been involved in an accident involving a deer. No one was injured; officer cleared without incident. ....
Feb. 1st 7:09 p.m.: An officer was requested for a vehicle in the ditch on Kellyville Rd in Briley Township. No one was injured. A 65-year-old male from Atlanta was arrested for driving without a license and no security. Feb. 2 8:36 p.m.: An officer was requested for a vehicle in the ditch on Jesse Rd in Hillman Township. No one was injured. A 44-year-old female was arrested on OWI charges. Feb. 3 Multiple deer vehicles were called into dispatch this morning; deputies responded to the scenes and took the information for reports. 11:11 a.m.: A resident of Briley Township called to seek answers on how to deal with his neighbor who has loud vehicles and is driving recklessly around the neighborhood, an officer was advised and will patrol the area more frequently. ....
Jan. 4 9:27 p.m.: A report of a car/deer accident was made to MCSO on M-32 east of M-33 south junction. MCSO Deputy responded and no injuries reported. 11:12pm A report of a car/deer accident was made to MCSO on M-32 near Homestead Rd. MCSO Deputy responded and no injuries were reported. Jan 5 4:23 a.m.: MCSO Deputies responded to a domestic dispute in Albert Township. Both parties were arrested on domestic violence charges and lodged at MCSO Jail. 6:59 p.m.: A report of a car/deer accident was made to MCSO east of Atlanta on M-32. MCSO Deputy responded and no injuries were reported. ....
