Canada headed to playoffs at World Mixed Doubles It was a thoroughly successful Friday to close out round-robin play for Canada’s Kerri Einarson and Brad Gushue at the 2021 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Aberdeen, Scotland. The Canadian duo not only locked up a playoff berth, but also secured a berth for Canada in mixed doubles curling at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. With wins over the Czech Republic and RCF (Russian Curling Federation) on Friday, Canada finishes second in its round-robin pool and will take on Switzerland Saturday at 5 a.m. (all times Eastern; TSN) in the playoff qualification round. ....
Thursday, 20 May 2021 Sweden became the first team to qualify for the playoff stage at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Aberdeen, Scotland, as they extended their unbeaten run to seven matches. As well as having a clear lead at the top of Group B, Sweden also qualified for the mixed doubles curling event at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics after booking their place in the playoff stage. The Swedes beat Japan 11-5 in the first session of the day and followed it up with an 11-7 triumph against China. Hot on Sweden’s heels in the group are Norway with a record of six wins and one defeat, following an emphatic 11-1 victory against England and a 9-5 triumph against Switzerland later in the day. ....

Aberdeen set to stage World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship Sunday, 16 May 2021 Aberdeen is set to host the latest major curling event to be held during the COVID-19 pandemic when the city stages the World Mixed Doubles Championship from tomorrow. Twenty teams have entered the tournament at Curl Aberdeen, due to run through to May 23 and which will take place under a series of COVID-19 restrictions and protocols. Qualification for the the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing will be on offer for the countries which finish in the top seven. Scotland s hosting of the Championship was only confirmed in March, when the country was in a national lockdown due to the coronavirus crisis. ....
