five-month-old baby stranded on a roof and a grandmother with six grandchildren who cut a hole in the roof to try to escape the rising waters. others are reporting similar folks stranded including eight children, five adults stuck on a highway and they can t get out. two storm shelters that have flooded themselves. keep in mind that surges there in the bahamas have been in excess of 23 feet. never in the history of storms in the bahamas have they seen anything like it or anything as devastating. they have no way to gauge the damage done there because it s not gone from there. just that it is historic and it is sweeping. we re keeping an eye on it. a reason enough for my next guest to say you have to be careful and heed the warnings and you also have to be on the same page as you are, whether in the bahamas or the united states. fellow that knows very well of what he speaks joins us, russell

russell onere. you handled a lot of lodgistics in hurricane katrina. what have we learned then that will be put into action now? a lot of the prepositioning is happening. fema established logistics basis and we have storage centers but the hard part will be search and rescue and harder part will be sustained communities, sometimes entire cities with the grid being down. there is an old saying, amateurs study tactics but there have to be people studying logistics to resupply people and keep them fed and you can t sustain them on a grid that s broken, under water with no electricity. the aftermath logistically is
